Start with the loads that matter
List the circuits you need during a power cut: lighting, communications, selected office equipment or a defined part of production. Record their running power, starting demand and required hours. Backing up an entire factory is a different project from supporting a few critical circuits. Priorities help avoid an oversized or unsuitable system.
Understand kW and kWh
Power in kW describes the rate at which equipment uses or supplies electricity. Energy in kWh relates to how much energy can be delivered over time. As a simple load example, 2 kW for 3 hours requires 6 kWh at the loads before losses and design reserves. This is not a battery-size recommendation: usable capacity, efficiency, surge demand and operating limits still need assessment.
Check inverter and battery compatibility
Discuss the inverter's battery interface, voltage range, controls and approved equipment combinations. An existing grid-tied inverter may not accept a battery directly. Retrofit projects may need a different architecture. Backup circuits, grid isolation and any generator connection must be designed together; transfer performance should not be assumed to equal a UPS.
Plan the battery location and responsibilities
The proposal should identify equipment location, access, environmental conditions, monitoring, emergency arrangements and manufacturer requirements. Fire safety and applicable approvals must be reviewed by qualified project professionals. Confirm who supplies, installs, commissions and supports each component, including how a battery warranty claim would be handled.
Your questions, answered
Can I add a lithium battery to an existing solar system?
Possibly, but compatibility and system architecture must be checked first. Share the inverter model, electrical layout and backup goal rather than selecting a battery only by its advertised capacity.
Will battery storage remove all electricity bills?
That cannot be assumed. Grid purchases, solar output, load timing, tariffs and storage losses all affect the result. Request a site-specific assessment without a guaranteed-savings claim.
